Drama 1:

I feel so pity for all the countries that are sending their table tennis players to China. Except at the preliminaries, these players don’t have any fun. The Chinese crowd in the Peking University Gymnasium is controlling the matches rather than players. The complaints have been raised by many players from Germany and Korea. Ryu Seung Min of Korea has lost the focus completely – the gym looks like more of a noise chamber. The German players Timo Boll, Christian Suzz feared getting to the arena – they knew they were going to lose.

Drama 2:

A Christian missionary group from Wyoming was caught by Chinese customs for carrying Bibles to China. The Chinese Govt. does not allow religious materials to enter to their country. Look at some of the players who have left China years ago – they have accepted religion like Christianity in other countries.

Drama 3:

Everyone is talking about it. The Chinese girls gymnasts are just 14 years old and they have entered into games where only 16 years can participate. Were they granted birth certificates and passports of age 16?

Drama 4:

Look at any sport – there will be some drama that people like it. What about Table Tennis? The table tennis game too has a lot of drama. Watch the women’s matches between Korea and Japan. Those are my favorite games.

Drama 5:

Look at the women table tennis player Yang Fen's hair. Is it real or fake? It is probably a wig. Whatever it is, it is generating a fear in me.

Drama 6:

Is he the real fan? I think so. The world's richest man Bill Gates is. He was in the crowd watching the games.

Drama 7:

In the men's fourth round, and in the 6 th game Samsonov hit a shot at the corner. That hit stalled the match for a while when both argued their sides of the stories - started by the coaches first. Samsonov argued it hit the top while Persson argued it is the side. Finally Samsonov gave up the point. Persson asked the umpire to play that point again. Persson took that game and that lead to their 7 th game. Alas, Persson won the match.

Re: Drama at the Beijing Olympics

Drama 1: Noise Chamber at Peking University Gymnasium

I felt that the atmosphere will be the same irrespective of which country hosting events like the Olympics or World Championship. The Chinese crowd in the gym is going to be noisier than when a table tennis player practice their matches in a control environment. Players from Germany and Korea like Ryu Seung Min or Timo Boll or Christian Suzz should prepared themselves mentally before their matches against China. It is just like the Badminton team from China or Denmark or Malaysia going to Indonesia for the Thomas Cup Final - the Indonesia crowd is as noisy as a broken car exhaust pipe.

Re: Drama at the Beijing Olympics

Bill Gates was there for many events including to watch Michael Phelps swimming. Bill Gates is a Ping Pong fan. If my memory is correct, Bill Gates was there to watch the Korea Vs USA Women's team match. I spotted him in the front row. You may be able to see him in one of those NBC Olympics table tennis videos on http://www.NBCOlympics.com.

Re: Drama at the Beijing Olympics

Well, that's one benefit of having $--I would love to watch the singles in person. I would put Bill Gates as a pretty good looper if he play table tennis. He is very good under pressure (no kidding).
