I've not used any medium pips rubber. Can it kill the underspin completely like long pips?

I think Medium Pips can kill underspin like the long pips. The pips with less friction can do the job easily.

I've played with a buddy of mine using a med pip rubber and he could actually drive and hit the ball with ease even with heavy underspin. He's a penholder and obviously he concentrate his shots more on the FH. Very hard to play as the ball is very odd coming at you and most of the time my return will end up in the net.

Instead of chopping downwards, try chopping horizontally towards the net.

Try it and see if it helps.

I think what you are seeing is balls that are wobbling. Most of the time they have no spin. It has tendency to go to the net unless you loop it with top spin. You can try also what 729 FX has suggested.
